Call for entries for the Latvian Architecture Award 2024

04.04.2024

From 22 April to 21 June 2024, the Latvian Association of Architects invites entries for the 2024 Latvian Architecture Award - an annual competition aimed at identifying and promoting Latvian architectural achievements and stimulating the development of high quality architecture. The prize is open to both works realised in Latvia, regardless of the nationality of the authors, and works realised elsewhere in the world, if the country of their authors is Latvia.

As in other years, the Latvian Architecture Award (LAGB) jury will consider two types of works - objects (completed and commissioned works) and processes (research, publications, educational and other types of architectural events) - in two rounds of local selection and an international final. According to the competition rules, the jury will assess the entries according to the Davos Quality System for the built environment, which offers eight quality criteria: governance, functionality, environment, economy, diversity, context, sense of place and beauty.

In the first round, entries will be judged by a selection jury:

  1. Miķelis Putrāms, Chairman of the Jury, architect, MADE arhitekti, LAGB 2023 Grand Prix winner
  2. Linda Krūmiņa, architect, "MADE arhitekti", LAGB 2023 Grand Prix winner
  3. Juris Poga, architect, member of the Council of the Latvian Association of Architects, multiple LAGB prize winner
  4. Dagnija Smilga, architect, architectural studio "ĒTER", LAGB 2022 Grand Prix winner
  5. Sandis Voldiņš, Member of the Board of the Latvian National Opera and Ballet, former State Secretary of the Ministry of Culture
  6. Jānis Šiliņš, civil engineer, project manager of SIA "Citrus Solutions"
  7. Ilze Martinsone, Head of the Latvian Museum of Architecture, National Heritage Board, guest lecturer at the Art Academy of Latvia, publicist

The deadline for submissions to the LAGB competition is 22 April to 21 June 2024 (early application with lower entry fee - until 31 May).
