An unusual book LIEPĀJIŅA

On the 29th of December, 2011 at UPB gallery in Liepāja, in Dzintara Street 19, an unusual contemporary architecture and urban environment book LIEPĀJIŅA was opened, which has been prepared by more than 100 invited co-authors! At the same time and exhibition consisting, both, of the drawings included and not in the book, but made especially for it, by Liepaja children's art school students and other children.

The magazine’s theme is „Homes for art”, guest editor Mg.Art. Ilze Žeivate. „Homes for art” in its widest sense can be seen as a space for our intercommunication through art as a catalyst for sociability and dialogue. It makes us look more closely at the debatable differing basic postulates of the projects for the awaited reconstruction of the President’s castle and the now completed „Riga Bourse” art museum. It makes us look more closely at the various possible forms of representation in relation to the object to be represented , at the new thinking and new form that the new age brings, regardless of our wishes.

In the content of magazines "Latvijas Architektūra" and "Būvinženieris" a signifficant part is dedicated to the contemporary theme of energy efficiency and sustainability, but the magazine "Latvijas Būvniecība" is dedicated to road construction. Is there a future for standard insulation projects, architects and legislators discuss in the discussion "Building insulation and architecture" organised by magazine "Latvijas Architektūra".

There are now created the preconditions for the LAS web page’s section ARCHITECTS IN LATVIA filling with the information provided there.That section is intended as a database of information about individual architects and architectural firms practicing in Latvian, as well as architects, whose scope is not a practical design, but work scientific, educational or administrative job.
