ARCH-E x ACE conference on Architectural Design Competitions

11.02.2026

The ARCH-E Consortium and the Architects’ Council of Europe (ACE) have announced a jointly organised conference dedicated to Architectural Design Competitions, which will take place on 23 April in Brussels, Belgium. The event is open free of charge to all interested participants upon prior registration.

The conference will explore how Architectural Design Competitions foster quality and innovation, promote high-quality Baukultur, and ensure the delivery of the most economically advantageous architectural projects.

The event will bring together a broad range of stakeholders — architects, competition organisers, representatives of public authorities and the construction sector. Participants will discuss strategies to expand the use of Architectural Design Competitions across Europe, improve regulatory frameworks, support architects’ participation in cross-border competitions, and assist public authorities and private developers in procuring high-quality architectural projects.

The programme will feature a keynote address by architect Adam Caruso, panel discussions with European practitioners and policymakers, as well as workshops and presentations on key topics in the field. Sessions will address the impact of architectural competitions on economic potential and transparency in procurement processes, the mitigation of market barriers for SMEs, and other related issues.

A detailed programme will be available soon — updates will be published on the organisers’ websites and social media channels.

The conference will take place on 23 April — one day before the General Assembly of the Architects’ Council of Europe.

Venue: The Mix Brussels — Boulevard du Souverain 25, 1170 Watermael-Boitsfort, Brussels, Belgium.
