In the international architectural idea competition "Territorial Development Concept in Šmerlis", proposals representing the development concept for the territory of 3, 5, and 17 Šmerļa Street, as well as the division of this territory into development stages, were evaluated.
On October 16, 2024, the jury evaluated the submitted entries for the idea competition's 2nd round and decided to award 1st award-winning prize and the right to enter into a contract for the functional zoning and division of the competition area into stages, the organization of transport flows, and elaboration of the guidelines for prospective construction and public outdoor spaces for the entry with the motto FOREST COURTYARDS (authors: IMM architektai, Lithuania).
Nine works in total were submitted for the idea competition. Evaluating the fact that the quality and level of details of the submitted proposals were different, that there were various approaches to the interpretation of the designing program, as well as respecting the scenic urban environment of the competition territory, the jury made an extraordinary decision — to continue the creative competition with the authors of the best three proposals in its opinion, by inviting them to review and improve the proposals in line with the commissioner’s re-specified requirements and the recommendations of the jury for each selected work and to resubmit them for the 2nd competition round.
The jury evaluated the adjusted proposals for the idea competition 2nd round on October 16, 2024, and announced the winner.
