The former Stērķele (potato starch) factory in Talsi is reimagined in this diploma project as a multifunctional cultural venue located by Lake Vilkmuiža. The building has undergone thorough research and assessment of its historic fabric. By preserving the vaulted ceilings, concrete vats, the “wrinkles” of the masonry, and the chimney, the project does not turn the building into a museum exhibit, but rather transforms it into a public space where the past becomes a resource for the future.
