Adaptation of premises for the needs of the Museum of Literature and Music

How to bring back the feeling of Old Riga in a Euro-renovation environment? The answer to adapting the Mārstaļu Street building for the needs of the Latvian National Museum of Literature and Music is to strictly adhere to historical evidence – ancient vaults, wall paintings, massive attic beams, and also to present all new additions through a tactile experience – the rough lime plaster, the shabby staircase, even the perfect entrance counter is covered in raw brass, allowing fingerprints to accumulate and write their own story about the life of the museum.
