The store is unique due to its 8-metre-high and 160-metre-long reinforced concrete retaining wall, which is located in the Pirtsupīte protection zone. The retaining wall holds back a 40,000 m3 embankment of sand, which was created from the Piebalgas Street side. What makes the Cēsis site unique is the insect house installed there, with which Lidl wants to emphasise the importance of a sustainable urban environment and the preservation of biodiversity. In the western part of the site, there is a natural meadow with information boards where anyone can learn about the plants that grow there. In addition, 28 coniferous trees and more than 300 different seedlings have been planted next to the store. The store also stands out for its special roof covering, which uses waterproofing material made from recycled plastic.
