The Vidzeme concert hall is a reconstruction of the Cēsis Viesīgās biedrības (Friendly society) House, built before the First World War to the design of architect Augusts Malvess. Although it has not been listed as an architectural monument, the building occupies a significant place in the historic environment of the town of Cēsis. The designers’ intention was to maintain as much of the building’s historical substance as possible, while choosing a distinctly contemporary expression for the newly built sections to clearly delineate elements from different eras.
