The Cesis municipal library building was built at the turn of the 19^th and 20^th centuries to the design of an unknown architect. The building’s form utilises references to the characteristic architecture of the Netherlands, supplemented with tulip-motif tiles on the entrance terrace. The designers have attempted to preserve the building’s authentic historical testimony while choosing contemporary expression for the new elements.
