Latvia’s exposition at the Venice Biennale’s 14th International Architecture Exhibition – Unwritten

Unwritten, Latvia’s exposition at the Venice Biennale’s 14th International Architecture Exhibition tells the story of the perception of, research into and conservation of post-war modernist architecture in Latvia. The exposition consists of three parts: a digital catalogue of modernist architectural examples in a Facebook profile, an exposition in Venice’s Arsenale exhibition hall and a printed catalogue of essays. The designers hold the belief that without an academically acknowledged study of post-war modernist architecture, its examples will be lost through reconstruction or being demolished. An application has been submitted to the State Inspectorate for Heritage Protection for eleven buildings to be granted heritage listing.
