Raituma paints

Preservation of authenticity of Kuldiga's historic center is possible due to providers of intangible assets — traditional skills of craftsmen. Since 1997 ecological, good quality and long lasting paints are being made in Kuldiga from flax seed oil varnish, wood tar, mineral pigments, balsamic turpentine, both for restoration and new buildings. There are about 14 doors, 100 windows and several facades in the historic centre restored using these paints. They have also been used for renovation of Kuldiga Main Library, District Museum, kindergarten Ābelīte, buildings of Kuldiga District Council, as well as in finishing of wood sheds of historic center.
