In response to the public health situation, the Latvian National Opera and Ballet (LNOB) initiated a seasonal outdoor venue. Together, the architects and LNOB team created the scenographic White Square, giving new life to former stage decoration parts. White Square served as a place to meet, work and rest, allowing visitors to experience the potential of upcycling in person, learn about the LNOB’s values and programme. It also hosted events. The installation encouraged thought on the real meaning of sustainability and individuals’ role in creating a better future.
