The Nicolas Gate is the only example of a three–tier gate with symmetrical guard rooms in Latvia. The project’s concept changed during the realization to make a clearer distinction between the new and the historical. The original function of the building has been lost, but it remains possible to use the object for different aims, like exhibitions and shows. The wooden bridge was also restored, remaining the gate’s representative role.
